As per Seema Jaggi, ‘assistant director general of the India Council of Agricultural Research, starting from the academic year 2025, agricultural universities across the countries will begin implementing the National Education Policy. Ms. Jaggi highlighted the key points of NEP, like introducing multiple entry and exit points for students within various agriculture universities, at the western zone vice chancellors meeting held at Somaiya Vidyavihar University.
Further, she said that to address the difficulties faced by agriculture universities, these institutions need to be redesigned and also meet the requirements of large multidisciplinary universities. Ms. Jaggi shows the importance of redesigning agriculture as a “professional discipline” to produce experts who can integrate “traditional knowledge with local knowledge.”.
The internationalization of higher education institutes is significant and considered a high-priority focus for the AIU, as per Pankaj Mittal, the secretary general of the Association of Indian Universities (AIU).
Further, he added, “To promote Indian education and facilitate the recruitment of foreign experts by local institutes, the AIU is actively organizing education fairs.”
