Mr. Gadde Satish (Cattle-Based Organic Farming)

Mr. Gadee Satish completed his post-graduation in commerce and belongs to Seethampeta village in the west Godavari district of Andhra Pradesh.

In India, many farmers believe that farming is not a profitable business due to stagnant crop yields, pests and diseases, and high cultivation costs. He is engaged in paddy cultivation on 19 acres and corn cultivation on 20 acres of land. Also, he has 37 buffalo, including heifers, adults, and calves.

His father taught him about cattle-based organic farming, as he believes that it is the most environmentally friendly farming method. His family has been farming since 1990. Even with the risk involved in farming, he chooses the organic-based farming method in this modern era.

Mr. Satish says that in order to minimize the issue of labour availability, he adopts the basin method of irrigation for coconut farms. Also, he believes animals are not impacted by reproductive issues or fertility due to natural grazing. As a progressive farmer, he has earned his position because of his deeper understanding of organic farming.

He shares his experiences with other farmers and with other senior authorities who engage in agriculture-related activities. This cattle-based organic farming is a way of life as it helps reduce dependency on external factors and because of the credibility of the organic method of cultivation. He says natural farming is part of our heritage and culture.

In order to start dairy tourism and agro-tourism, he plans to work with the tourism department. He is inspiring a lot of farmers with his knowledge.
